Drive times from CMB (typical, traffic dependent)
Negombo beach hotels: 20 to 40 minutes. Colombo city hotels: 45 to 90 minutes depending on the hour. Waskaduwa / Kalutara (west coast, including Sundown Beach Restaurant): about 1.5 to 2 hours. Kandy: 3 to 4 hours. Dambulla / Sigiriya: 4 to 5 hours. Galle Fort: 2.5 to 3.5 hours via the Southern Expressway. Ella, Yala or the east coast the same day as a long haul landing is rarely a good idea. Late night arrivals usually sleep in Negombo or on the west coast and start inland the next morning.
Night arrivals and first night hotels
Many European flights land between 22:00 and 06:00. Immigration, baggage and the walk to the meeting point can add 45 to 90 minutes after wheels down. A 40 minute hop to Negombo or a 90 minute run to a west coast hotel is kinder than a four hour Cultural Triangle drive in the dark. Tell us if you prefer a quiet first night by the sea. We can start the round tour from Waskaduwa or Negombo the following morning instead of pushing inland on landing day.
Flight delays, meeting points and WhatsApp
Share your flight number so we can track delays. Meeting procedures inside CMB follow current airport rulesyour confirmation message explains exactly where to find the driver (arrivals hall, name board, or a stated exit). Keep WhatsApp available on arrival Wi Fi or roaming for last metre coordination. If you cannot find the driver, message before accepting an unofficial taxi offer.
Vehicles, luggage and child seats
We match car or van size to passengers and luggage. Soft bags travel easier than rigid oversized cases in smaller carstell us bag count when booking. A family of four with two large hard cases usually needs a van, not a saloon. Child seats and boosters can be requested in advance, subject to availability. The same vehicle and driver can continue as your private tour car after the transfer if you have booked a multi day itinerary.
Mattala (HRI) and departure transfers
Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (HRI) near Hambantota is a secondary gateway, useful if you finish a south coast or Yala itinerary there. Most guests still arrive at CMB. We also run departure transfers: pickup from your last hotel with buffer time for CMB check in, expressway traffic and the walk to the terminal. For departures, we usually collect 4 to 5 hours before an international flight from the south or hill country, and about 3 hours before from west coast hotels.

How long is the transfer from CMB to Negombo?
